Looking out on Wedge Island, far from human concerns, I often feel that I have come to the end of the earth. This feeling is expressed in the Chinese saying, Tian Ya Hai Jiao, which literally means Sky Boundaries ... Corners of the Sea.
This feeling of being at the end of the Earth floods over me when massive Sou-Westerly storms roll in from Storm Bay. The most terrifying storms are the rare lighting barrages. The awsome scale of nature threatens to snuff out life on land where lightning strikes in electric fronts.
The ground shakes and ozone fills the atmosphere. The explosive sound of bolts hitting the rocks nearby puts one in fear of life. It is as if lighting tears angles in the fabric of nature. So I called this thankfully rare experience at Nantasenhai, Angles of the Earth.
I chose to sign Aaqus R on the front. This signing style is from the late 1980s, when I first shared the land with lightning.
